I didn't know where it came from, it happened to be in my taskbar last night, doing some fake scan and listed down thousands of made up trojan and viruses. I wasn't surprised because I forgot to install back any antivirus. Yeah I uninstalled Avira a week ago because there's conflict when I was about to install Adobe Photoshop. The good thing about fake Antivirus 2008 is, it came as a reminder to me to install Avira back on my laptop. You might wonder how does it looks like, so here are some of the screenshots I could grab before I permanently removed it.
It changed my desktop too!
How to remove it?
The removal is not as hard as removing USB worm, thanks to Bleeping Computer for introducing a wonderful software that can be used to automatically remove the fake antivirus. The installation is easy, just follow through the instruction given onscreen and you should be doing fine.
After the installation perform quick scan as in pictures below and once the scan is done click on the Remove Selected button to remove all the listed malware. Easy peasy!
