Firefox is making the right move in order to keep pace with Internet Explorer & Google Chrome by incorporating Private Browsing feature into Firefox 3.1. This feature will put Firefox users completely under the radar, so users of the same computer will not know where you wander on the internet.
If you browse on the web looking for the most suitable gift for your family members, they can be be a little bit observant (as the event drawing near) and sometimes they can be a bloodhound when it comes to this kind of things.
They can easily smell birthday present (that should only be known during birthday party) and this is especially true when all of family members use the same computer. Making an online purchase while in private browsing mode will ensure not even a single trace is left behind that might give your family members a hint on what the present would be.
Technically, when in private browsing mode, all cookies are only stored during the browsing session and will be flushed out as soon as the session ends. Apart from that, the visited site will not be stored in the history like we always experience, password will not be asked and auto-complete will be available but the entered data will not be remembered.
While waiting the stable Firefox 3.1 stable to be available, Firefox users can use Stealther addon in order to have this functionality.
