Eches.net suspended for causing CPU overload

Eches.net was not accessible for almost 24 hours yesterday as the number of unique visitors gradually increases and keep hitting the maximum CPU usage for a shared hosting. I was kindly reminded by Siteground a week ago regarding the alarming traffic development in this site and the need to switch to VPS or dedicated server to better accommodate the growing traffic, but I managed to bring this blog into a safe zone by implementing super cache plugin and by removing most of subdomains that brought a handful of visitors.

Yesterday, eches.net was again hit by consistent surge of traffics. While happy looking at the positive development indicated by Google analytics, I was shocked to see a steep slope of yesterday's traffic. Email from Siteground confirmed that eches.net was suspended for hitting the capped level again and causing poor performance to other Siteground's client hostings.

I tried to do a quick transfer to a VPS provider (Knownhost) but I ended up running in the same circle again and again (failed to propagate the name servers etc). I must say VPS is totally a new environment and there are lot of things to be learned. Taking the situation into consideration, I guess it must take at least 2 days to get everything properly setup. 2 days of down time carry too much stakes. The simplest way to get around the problem is by purchasing VPS from Siteground but it costs me a whopping $99 a month!

Eches.net definitely won't dwell long enough in this VPS since there are other cheaper VPSs but provide superb performance. I probably try Slicehost; it's affordable. Starting with $38/month you can have the same specifications as what I have now.

Frankly, I believe there are several companies that are specialized in VPS and dedicated server host and that explains why I start to revisit several hosting review sites that I used to visit long time ago. If you plan to own your first domain, VPS is not for you yet; look no further than to find cheap web host (shared hosting).

I will keep you posted with my new quest on finding suitable VPS for my blog. Don't forget to subscribe my feed.
